Fillers are injected under the skin to fill in wrinkles or to add volume to particular areas of the face. Mr Toft only uses Restylane ® as this is the safest, best tested, and least problematic filler on the market. It is pure non-animal derived, stabilised hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide gel (sugar-like substance) which naturally occurs in humans and plays an important role giving volume to the skin. It is biodegradable and since the body has its own system for absorbing hyaluronic acid, it disappears over time without a trace. Effects last between six and nine months.

Mr Toft will only use Restylane®-based products, and will not use some of the permanent fillers on the market today as he believes they have deleterious long term effects, some of which can be serious. Since its development in 1996, millions of Restylane® treatments have been performed. Problems or side effects are extremely rare.

Restylane® is used for cosmetic procedures in three main ways. First, for smoothing wrinkles and folds; second, for shaping facial contours often the cheeks; and thirdly, for patients who wish fuller lips or a more pouting look. Mr Toft has extensive experience with Restylane® based products and offers advice on how to achieve the desired effect.
